We saw marked improvement in every participating school.  We analyzed four primary benchmarks:

  • Student Engagement - The level in which students actively participate and interact with their learning process
  • Volume - The quantity of writing students are able to produce in any given workshop session
  • Stamina - The amount of time students can remain on task, engaged in the writing process
  • Level - The measured achievement of each student

We expect these numbers to continue to improve in the following year.

Writing workshop has been a refreshing study for myself, my colleagues, and my students. Due to the nature of the process, writing is broken down into manageable parts for me to teach and for my students to experience success. It is changing the way students see themselves. They believe they are writers. My team and I have enjoyed studying and planning together and watching our entire school commit to the process.
